I'm passionate about Emergency Medicine and teaching junior doctors. I am fortunate to find my job exciting, satisfying, fulfilling and interesting. It's an enormous privilege. 

At the same time, I found my first rotation as an intern in Emergency overwhelming. I didn’t know who to talk to or how best to help and I found myself unable to anticipate the next things to do. The workflow was unpredictable and I felt I was inconveniencing my bosses by asking them for help. All of this led me to feeling stressed out and anxious every shift.

Unfortunately, this experience is not uncommon. Emergency is a chaotic place. It functions completely differently to anywhere else in hospital. It has its own culture, its own workflow and its own rules that are invisible to new players. I created this blog to help demystify things and help you unpack what you experience on shift.

I absolutely love what I do. I hope with a little persistence you discover the satisfaction and reward that Emergency can bring.
